Playing Dress Up! Parade of Nations at SSA BSD

The ground of SSA BSD was once again filled with laughter and busy chatter as students from the mainstream classes and special education classes gathered last October 24, 2014 to celebrate the United Nations Day. Wearing colorful costumes from various countries around the world, they all participated in the merry making and gamely posed for the picture taking. Even the teachers enjoyed the celebration so much and have even played dress up just like the students and wore different costumes as well.

The celebration included a short parade and introduction by each student of the costumes they’re wearing. Even students from the baby classes gamely posed and smiled to the delight of the adoring crowd. The parade was then followed by group singing of various songs related to the United Nations celebration such as Children of the World and other similar songs which promote peace and unity despite the cultural differences among nations. The special education classes likewise had a meal sharing activity after the parade wherein students brought food from various countries such as pasta from Italy, burgers from the USA, dumplings from China and other culinary delights. A mini “amazing race” was likewise done in various stations within the school decorated as different continents of the world.

The said event likewise served as a celebration of SSA BSD’s second year anniversary which also falls on the month of October. Everyone joined in the singing of a birthday song and the blowing of the candle for the school they have all come to consider as a second home. The merry mix of adoring parents, cheerful students and ever supportive teachers made the event truly enjoyable. Not even the humid temperature on that day could dampen the spirits of the happy students.
